YAMAHA FZ 150 NEXT YAMAHA VIXION

Yamaha which plans to make a comeback this year has introduced four new models at the Auto Expo. The models are Gladiator type SS and RS (125cc), YZF R15 and FZ (150cc).With this Yamaha has unleashed its strategic intent to offer product line that demonstarates the global yamaha image and live up to the true Yamaha DNA i.e. performance, innovation and design. Here is few details on Yamaha’s another 150cc FZ which will be launched around Diwali this year. Unlike the YZF R15 ( sports bike) this one is a macho street fighter. FZ 150cc is inspired from FZ1000cc bike. Also unlike the YZF R15, FZ 150 will have only an air cooled engine but that means it is friendly to your wallet.

Honda have hit back hard with the track focused CBR600RR. They want their 600 crown back and after our first initial ride it seems they’ve done it. They’ve rectified the old motorcycle’s weak points, namely lack of midrange and weight. The Honda CBR600RR is now the lightest in the class, and has much more midrange and razor sharp handling.

Watch the Honda CBR600RR take on the Yamaha R6, Triumph's Daytona 675, Suzuki's new GSX-R600 K8 and Kawasaki's ZX-6R.

The old Honda CBR600RR really lacked midrange between 7000rpm to 10,000rpm but the all-new 2007 model Honda CBR600RR has had an injection of midrange which makes it punchier. You really notice the extra drive out of slow to medium corners. At the top end Honda have only managed to strain a few more bhp, that should bring it up to speed with the competition.

Ride and Handling

MCN rating rating is 5
Owners' rating rating is 5

Honda has shortened the wheelbase and tightened up the steering to make the Honda CBR600RR far sharper. Combine that with the reduction in weight and it all makes the new Honda CBR600RR a formidable track tool. It steers so well, you can really flick the motorcycle around and there so much feedback from the front tyre you can carry loads of brake into the turn.

Equipment

MCN rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 4

The Honda CBR600RR's MotoGP styling is sleek in the flesh and typical Honda build quality runs all the way through. The suspension is fully adjustable front and rear and you can feel every half turn or click. Unfortunately you don’t get a slipper clutch as standard on the Honda CBR600RR, unlike its Japanese competition.

MCN overall verdict rating is 4

Suzuki’s big-bore GSF1250 Bandit gets an all-new engine designed to meet latest Euro legislation. In doing so, Suzuki have created a 98cc bigger, 1255cc water-cooled, fuel-injected, tourque-laden peach of an engine. The GSF1250 Bandit's frame and suspension have also been upgraded to give a sumptuous, well-mannered mileage machine that can also run in the twisties.

Engine

Owners' rating rating is 4.5

With nigh-on 80ftlb of torque delivered to the rear wheel at 3700rpm, the Suzuki GSF1250 Bandit’s new six-speed gearbox needs little provocation. The GSF1250 will cheerfully pull from 3500rpm in top gear and run on to 140+mph. That gearbox is typical Suzuki: precise, perfectly spaced ratios. And, hoorah, no sign of any fuel-injection stutters or flatspots in its performance delivery.

Ride and Handling

MCN rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 4

It’s a Bandit, and as such it carries the tradition of upright seating, sumptuous seat and perfectly placed footpegs and one-piece handlebars. Suzuki haven’t changed the chassis too much from the old (k6) model, just beefed up the GSF1250 Bandit's frame rails and revised the suspension damping and springs. Big difference, though, the Suzuki GSF1250 Bandit now steers faultlessly, stable and hides its weight well.

Equipment

MCN rating rating is 4
Owners' rating rating is 4

There are two versions of the Suzuki GSF1250S Bandit – non ABS and with ABS, but Suzuki GB is only importing the ABS kitted version. This isn’t a problem as the ABS is a refined set-up and leaves a lot of the braking up to the rider before cutting in. Suzuki GB will do its usual trick of releasing limited versions of the GSF1250 Bandit (touring, GT etc), but until then a ruck of accessories (topbox, panniers etc) will be available separately.
