Third Year Party: Southsiders Video

This is a great video for Southsiders MC featuring the Third Year Party in France, produced by Greenfilms. The song is "The Funeral" by Band of Horses. Look close and you'll see the Blitz Motorcycles guys from the beautiful short film Riding September as well as Paul D'Orleans from The Vintagent!

Check out the tasty quilted tank jacket on that Norton Commando. Wow.

Back on the Road

After two months in the air, It's nice to be back on the road again.
I've been working out of town for the past two months - flying back and forth on the weekends making for a very hectic schedule. I love my work and every minute of my time away, but it's good to be home. I'm blessed to be able to live in the best place on earth. Below is a photo along my nice long commute route - miles before I get to the city.

Jesse Carmody at El Mirage

Jesse Carmody just posted some beautiful images from a recent trip with his mates out to El Mirage in southern California. In this set, you might recognize photographer Scott Toepfer of  "It's Better in the Wind."

Funny how small the world becomes when you see it from the back of a vintage motorbike.

Mean Bikes: Triumph Coventry Run Video

The guys at Mean Bikes uploaded a slew of new riding videos. I love the Japanese British bike scene. They really have a way of zeroing in on an icon and blowing out just the cool. It's hard to read in Japanese, but their shop site "Coventry Only Triumph" features some really great Brit bikes and customs.

2000 Mile Epic Ride To Boston

In 2010, my old friend Scott Wilson rode his Harley from Garden City, Kansas to New York City. He says, "In one week, I traveled through 9 states and the District of Columbia for a total of 2000 miles. I saw beautiful scenery, historic sites, and sunsets that took my breath away. After arriving in NYC, I ran the New York City Marathon. I finished in 4 hour and 20 minutes. Thanks to all those who encouraged me and supported me on my adventure..."

Scott came through our area last November and we caught up after many years apart. The next day I rode him out of town on a beautiful fall morning. My 5-second cameo is at 06:28. Enjoy his video below.

Even if he is on a Harley.

Revenge Run 2

I was out for a ride Saturday and I met up with some of the Revenge Runners coming back a little early for the Easter holiday. They were all on Harleys, (one bagger was painted in a conspicuous snow camo.) They flagged me down to get a look at the Enfield and I was happy to stop. They were heading back to Virginia and couldn't be a nicer bunch of southern folks.

Boys of Bonneville

Boys of Bonneville features the inspiring story of Ab Jenkins, the man who broke the most land speed records ever. Some of his records stood for 50 years. He was the pilot of the "Mormon Meteor." He became a national hero. And he was a good man.

Jenkins' interest in velocity began while racing motorcycles as a young man from Salt Lake City. He raced 1/2 mile and cross country and went on to establish the Bonneville Salt Flats as the home for speed. Check out this inspiring trailer for the film "Boys of Bonneville".

Chanel, Knightley and Ducati

Actress Keira Knightley was born in Teddington, London, England and rides a Ducati 750 Sport in the new Chanel perfume film titled "Coco Mademoiselle". Knightley is the British part of this post since Ducati is obviously an Italian motorcycle. I like the classic silhouette of the girl on the fairinged motorcycle, even if I wished it was the curvier, Victoria's Secret model and real-life motorcyclist, Marisa Miller instead. Could someone please take Miss Knightley out for a dozen cheeseburgers and milkshakes for Pete's sake? The film is embedded below.

Speaking of Marisa Miller, she offers 5 reasons to Esquire Magazine why women find motorcycles sexy.
