Third Year Party: Southsiders Video

This is a great video for Southsiders MC featuring the Third Year Party in France, produced by Greenfilms. The song is "The Funeral" by Band of Horses. Look close and you'll see the Blitz Motorcycles guys from the beautiful short film Riding September as well as Paul D'Orleans from The Vintagent!

Check out the tasty quilted tank jacket on that Norton Commando. Wow.

Mean Bikes: Triumph Coventry Run Video

The guys at Mean Bikes uploaded a slew of new riding videos. I love the Japanese British bike scene. They really have a way of zeroing in on an icon and blowing out just the cool. It's hard to read in Japanese, but their shop site "Coventry Only Triumph" features some really great Brit bikes and customs.

2000 Mile Epic Ride To Boston

In 2010, my old friend Scott Wilson rode his Harley from Garden City, Kansas to New York City. He says, "In one week, I traveled through 9 states and the District of Columbia for a total of 2000 miles. I saw beautiful scenery, historic sites, and sunsets that took my breath away. After arriving in NYC, I ran the New York City Marathon. I finished in 4 hour and 20 minutes. Thanks to all those who encouraged me and supported me on my adventure..."

Scott came through our area last November and we caught up after many years apart. The next day I rode him out of town on a beautiful fall morning. My 5-second cameo is at 06:28. Enjoy his video below.

Even if he is on a Harley.

It's Better In The Wind

Ready to be jealous? What if you were free from all cares and could take off on your bike at any time, in perfect weather, to any destination. That's the what the upcoming independent film titled, "It's Better In The Wind" looks like. I interviewed L.A.-based photographer Scott G. Toepfer, who filmed, edited and experienced these escapes of freedom on location during various cross country rides throughout the Western US.

You'll see some Triumph bikes both bobbed and cafe racer style. As Scott tells it,
 "The film is just as much about 'getting away' as it is about motorcycles. The riders aren't exactly featured, it's a group of guys riding and camping and leaving LA as often as possible. The group tends to hover around 4-6 guys, sometimes more, sometimes less depending on the ride."

There was an accompanying book released in 2010 of the same title (Now sold out). Be sure to check out the other teasers for the film on Scott's Vimeo page.

Scott continues, "As for the bikes, there are a couple of modern Triumphs, a couple old Hondas, and my bike is currently a Yamaha xs650. We occasionally cruise with a couple chopper guys on old Harley's, and I think the film will include some footage of them as well. I try not to discriminate too often. The Triumphs tend to take precedence because they are the guys that I am closest with, and have a certain regularity when we go out and shoot. A couple of the bikes are very custom, and a couple are pretty stock. Samson really only rides Japanese stock restoration bikes, which are beautiful. Myself and the Triumph guys tend to be a bit more on the customization side of things."

I'm looking forward to this one. In talking with him, the talented Mr. Toepfer seems to be a genuine guy who loves what he does and shares what he loves.

Detroit's Velodrome and the Mower Gang

Back in September 2010, a group of volunteers called the Mower Gang discovered Detroit's Velodrome - an abandoned racetrack. They cleaned it up, trimmed the grass and cleared the weeds off the track.

Of course a couple of hooligans like Fabrizio found out and had a go themselves. The bikes look great and include a couple Triumphs. One stock and one or more custom. Might be a Yamaha xs650 in there too.

There have since been other events seen in this video for mopeds, bicycles and pit bikes.

I'm thankful there are still people like this who see something and make a difference without anyone forcing them or any government program paying for it.

Un Mercedez Benz SLR de Oro Blanco - Solo en Emiratos Árabes

Recientemente me topé con una foto que alguien tomó en el mall de los Emiratos Arabes a un singular Mercedes-Benz. Al principio pensé que se trataba de un auto como el Shelby Cobra conceptual cuyo acabado es de acero inoxidable cepillado, sin pintura lo cual lo hace lucir reluciente. Pero como era de esperarse, allá en Dubai los árabes no se limitan, como si la bahía Palm Jumeira y el hotel Burj-al-arab no son suficientes para deslumbrar, algún magnate se le ocurrió mandarse a hacer su Mercedez Benz SLR con acabado de oro blanco en vez de pintura. Así es, no es simplemente un acabado acero, se trata de un recubrimiento de oro blanco en toda la carrocería del SLK
Aquí está la foto donde se aprecia mejor el auto y notarán a algunos caballeros árabes al fondo frente a la entrada del mall.



Les dejo también la foto del superdeportivo de frente y por detrás. ¿Qué les parece?


Este SLR aunque extravagante me parece muy bien logrado, sin caer en lo ridículo ni naco. El video de abajo muestra algunos de los autos ostentosos que rondan por ahí, incluído este Mercedes SLR en oro blanco así como otros con diamantes y unos porsche que están naquísimos en oro grabado y algunos hasta con peluche.

TRON Legacy - Vuelven las Super Motos Ahora en 3D

¿Quién de ustedes, lectores del blog motofashion, vio la película de TRON? Si la vieron seguramente fue en los años 80's ya que fue estrenada en 1982 y tal vez, como a mí, les causó una profunda impresión tal despliegue de tecnología en aquellos años. Y sobre todo, la escena de las motos. Era espectacular. Fue una de las películas que me hicieron inclinarme por esta afición a las motocicletas.
Pues hace poco me topé con una nueva versión de TRON que Disney Studios está preparando para lanzarla en este año 2010. Se trata de TRON Legacy, basada en la película original y con nuevamente una escena fantástica de las carreras en motos. Aunque esta vez sea probablemente más emocionante ya que estará disponible en formato 3D (Disney 3D o IMAX 3D)
Aquíi les dejo el trailer que anticipa mucha emoción y buen despliegue tecnológico para que lo disfruten y estén al pendiente de su estreno
